Develop an integrated optical device design for white LEDs, including specification of fundamental chip parameters, wavelength conversion materials and light extraction mechanisms. Work to develop next generation white LEDs for the general illumination market.
- Responsible for designing and developing high efficacy and high power wavelength-converted white-light LEDs, supporting theoretical design by quantitative experimental analysis and coordinating designed experiments from epi forwards to packaged devices, and developing and maintaining understanding of the full optical system
- Ph.D. in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Optics or equivalent discipline and 3-5 years relevant product development experience required
- Extensive experience in optical device design, including doped optical materials, optical intefaces and optical semiconductor materials; white LED manufacturing, including development of color-binning approaches; and design of vertical emission semiconductor optical systems
- Demonstrated system-level approach to optical device design and use of statistical data analysis and Design-of-Experiments techniques
