Develop proof-of-concept designs for single- and multi-color high flux density phosphor converted LEDs for the illumination and display markets. Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of external phosphor developments, including material evaluation. Own theoretical models for phosphor converted LED performance including interaction effects for multi-component phosphor blends. Serve as internal phosphor expert for advanced R&D programs, development engineering, and for manufacturing.
- Self-motivated hands-on experienced experimentalist with demonstrated ability to deliver designs into product development and to communicate and document theoretical and experimental results.
- Extensive experience in optical device design, including doped optical materials, optical interfaces and optical semiconductor materials. Knowledge base in rare-earth materials, including absorption, emission, thermal quenching and concentration quenching.
- Experience with compound semiconductor fabrication processes and semiconductor packaging.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Applied Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Optics or equivalent discipline and 3+ years relevant product development experience required.
